Prepare Acceptable Photo ID
To ensure a smooth and efficient notarial process, each signer must present a valid (not expired and not temporary) photo ID. The following forms of identification are acceptable:
- California Driver's License or Non-Driver ID:
A California Non-Driver ID, including Senior ID, is issued by the California DMV for individuals who do not drive. It serves as an official form of identification and includes: - A clear, recent photograph of the holder.
- The holder’s signature.
- A unique serial number. Physical descriptions such as height, weight, eye color, and hair color.
- U.S. Passport: Issued by the U.S. Department of State.
- Verify Identity: Our notary will verify your identity using your acceptable photo ID.
- Confirm Understanding: Our notary will ensure that you understand the significance of the document and are signing of your own free will.
- Administer Oath or Affirmation: Our notary will administer an oath or affirmation if required (for jurats).
- Witness Signing: Our notary will witness the signing of the document.
- Driver's License (US State): Driver's license or non-driver ID from another US state
- Driver's License (Mexico or Canada): Driver's license issued by Mexico or Canada
- Passport/Consular ID: Valid passport or consular identification from the signer's country of citizenship
- Employee ID: Employee ID card from any state, county, or city agency or office in CA
- US Military ID: US military ID that contains all the required elements (e.g., not the CAC)
- Tribal Government ID: ID card issued by a federally recognized tribal government
- In-Person Requirement: All signers must be present in person.
- Proper Identification: Every signer must have proper photo identification as listed above.
- Understanding and Willingness: Signers must be completely able to understand the significance of the document and must sign of their own free will.
- Document Completeness: The document must be completely filled in with no blank spaces, except for the client signature and notarization section.
- Legal Advice: By law, CA notaries cannot give legal advice. Please consult with your attorney or other advisors to address any questions before your appointment.

Our Notarial Process
At NOTACare, we strive to make the notarial process as smooth and efficient as possible. Here’s what you can expect when you work with us:
Contact us to set up an appointment at your convenience. We offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate your needs.
Ensure you have all the documents that need to be notarized. The documents must be complete with no blank spaces, except for the client signature and notarization section.
Each signer must present a valid (not expired and not temporary) photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID include: Primary IDs: CA driver's license or non-driver ID (e.g., Senior ID) from the CA Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and US passport.
All signers must be present in person for the notarization. During the appointment, our notary will: Verify your identity using your acceptable photo ID. Ensure that you understand the significance of the document and are signing of your own free will. Administer an oath or affirmation if required (for jurats). Witness the signing of the document.
The notary will review the document to ensure it meets all legal requirements. Once everything is in order, the notary will:
Complete the notarial certificate.
Affix the notary seal and their signature to the document.
The notary will verify that all sections of your document are complete. After payment, you will receive a receipt. Your document is now notarized and legally binding, ready for use.
